Cat6 Flat Ethernet Patch Cable: Slim 550MHz UTP RJ45 Cord with Custom Colour, Length and Packaging
The LinkSup Cat6 flat Ethernet patch cable is the workhorse SKU of any structured cabling programme — high enough performance for gigabit and short-run 10G links, thin enough to disappear into an office or apartment installation, and cheap enough to deploy by the thousand. At just 1.5 mm thick, the flat ribbon jacket lies completely flush against the floor or wall, so it can be run under a carpet tile, beneath a door, along a skirting board or behind a mounted TV without the bulge a round cable creates. We manufacture it in our own ISO9001 facility in Humen, Dongguan, which means jacket colour, cable length, boot style, cable marking and retail packaging are all open for customization — a critical advantage for brands, integrators and distributors building their own catalogue rather than reselling a generic cord.
Colour, Length and Packaging Built to Your Specification
Most buyers come to us because the stock market cannot give them the exact SKU matrix they need. We produce this cable in ten standard jacket colours — grey, navy blue, light blue, white, black, red, yellow, green, orange and purple — and will match a custom Pantone for brand-critical projects. Colour coding is not cosmetic in professional installations: it lets a technician identify VLANs, floors, voice versus data, or customer circuits at a glance inside a crowded cabinet, which measurably reduces mis-patching and troubleshooting time. Lengths run from 0.15 m jumpers for high-density patch fields up to 30 m room-to-room runs, cut and tested to order, with optional printed length markings on the jacket. On packaging we support velcro cable ties, poly bags, blister cards, printed colour boxes, barcode and UPC labelling, multi-pack bundles and Amazon FBA-ready master cartons — all under your own brand.
Cat6 Electrical Performance and Where It Fits
Category 6 is rated to 250MHz by the standard; our cable is engineered with 550MHz tested headroom, giving extra margin for insertion loss, NEXT and return loss across the channel. In practical terms that means rock-solid 1000BASE-T gigabit over the full 100 m permanent link, and 10GBASE-T operation over runs up to 55 m where the environment is low in alien crosstalk. For most offices, hotels, classrooms, retail sites and homes this is the correct commercial choice: Cat6 cabling delivers the bandwidth that installed switch and NIC hardware can actually use, at roughly a third the cost of Category 8, and the flat form factor removes the labour cost of hiding a thick round cord. Where 10G to the desk over longer distances or heavy EMI is expected, we recommend stepping up to our shielded Cat6A or Cat8 lines instead.
Conductor, Connector and Jacket Construction
Four twisted pairs of stranded oxygen-free copper are laid side by side in a flat, precisely extruded PVC jacket that controls pair spacing and therefore impedance along the entire length. We use 30AWG or 32AWG bare copper — never copper-clad aluminium, which raises DC resistance, fails PoE heat-rise testing and cracks when flexed. Stranded rather than solid conductors keep the cord flexible enough for repeated coiling and desk-side movement. Each end is terminated with a 50-micron gold-plated 8P8C RJ45 plug in T568B wiring and finished with a one-piece moulded snagless boot: the integrated latch guard is what stops the locking clip catching and snapping when a technician pulls a cord out of a dense patch panel, the single most common cause of field returns. Jacket material can be specified as standard PVC or as low-smoke zero-halogen LSZH for hospitals, schools, transit and any public-building tender.

Typical Applications
This cord is deployed for desk-to-wall-plate connections in open-plan offices, patch panel to switch jumpers in floor cabinets, hotel and dormitory in-room data drops, classroom and library terminals, router to smart-TV / console / set-top box links in the home, IP telephony handsets, POS terminals in retail, and PoE access-point and camera drops on gigabit networks. For shielded and higher-bandwidth requirements see our Cat6 & Cat6A patch cord range and our Cat8 shielded patch cords; the full slim-line catalogue sits under flat patch cords, and field-termination hardware under RJ45 plugs and connectors.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is a flat Cat6 cable as good as a round one? For UTP gigabit links, yes. Pair twist and impedance are controlled to the same tolerances and every batch passes the same Fluke suite. Round cable’s advantages appear mainly in shielded, high-EMI or long 10G runs; for typical office and home routing, flat wins on installation ease.
Cat6 or Cat6A — which should I buy? Cat6 covers gigabit everywhere and 10G to 55 m, and is the cost-efficient default. Choose shielded Cat6A when you need certified 10G at the full 100 m or you are cabling near heavy electrical interference.
Can this cable be run under carpet? Yes — that is the primary reason customers specify it. The 1.5 mm flat jacket sits flush under carpet tiles, rugs and door thresholds. For permanent in-wall runs, use riser or plenum-rated bulk cable instead of a patch cord.
Does it support Power over Ethernet? Yes, PoE and PoE+ (802.3af/at) for access points, IP phones and cameras. Because we use bare copper rather than CCA, heat rise stays within specification in bundled runs.
What are your MOQ and lead time? Typically 100 pcs per colour/length combination, with samples available in 3–5 days and mass production in 7–15 days depending on quantity and packaging complexity.
Can you print our logo and build a retail SKU? Yes — jacket printing, logo boots, branded velcro straps, barcoded colour boxes and FBA cartons are all standard services. See our OEM/ODM services and Fluke testing lab, then send your colour, length and packaging list for a same-day quotation.
